Replacement Of Open Canal Using HDPE Pipes & Fittings

In existing canal network systems there are many drawbacks such as huge water losses through evaporation, conveyance, seepages and deep percolation. Because of these losses and leakages, bund breaks etc the irrigation efficiencies of canal systems are abysmally low. In the canal systems, the water is given in rotations that means they are supply based systems wherein the crops grown are low value crops. Because of these reasons, the Water Use Efficiencies in canal systems are very low. We need to improve the situation by introducing piping network

Witnessing and controlling various losses in open canals over years, PWD (Irrigation Branch), Government of Punjab has decided to replace the Kandi phase II open canal in to below ground network of HDPE pipes and fittings. Jain Irrigation has installed the HDPE pipes and fittings and converted open canal in to below ground gravity network of HDPE piplines.
